I went to Juilliard
Chronology
A dead couple is haunted by an insufferable family who moves into their home and hires an evil spirit to exorcise them.. This is Michael Keaton’s favorite movie.. Otto changes his shoes from red when he paints the walls of the house. which looks like the fireman elf’s white sneakers as he passes the bathroom, then changes back to red elf shoes as he enters the next room. Adam: What are your qualifications? Beetlejuice: Oh. Well… I graduated from Harvard Business School.
I travel a lot
I survived the black plague and had a pretty good time of it. I’VE WATCHED THE ECORCISTS A COMBINED ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY SEVEN TIMES AND IT GETS FUNNIER EACH TIME I SEE IT…NOT EXPECTING THAT YOU’RE TALKING TO THE DEAD…WHAT ARE YOU THINKING NOW? Do you think I’m qualified? An eerie version of Banana Boat (sung by film composer Danny Elfman) is added to the Geffen logo. A work print of the film has surfaced with some added/alternate scenes. This version of the film is about 2 minutes shorter than the theatrical release, has a few extra scenes and is missing a few others, is in black and white, and has a timecode at the bottom. This version has 4 main differences: Alternate Scene: There is another scene where Adam tries to leave the house after he and his wife are dead. Instead of a desert, he sees an empty darkness filled with rolling gears.
Edited in Terror Toons (2002)
Additional Scenes: Added a scene where Lydia develops the pictures she took of Adam and Barbra. After her mother yells at her and blames her for cutting holes in the sheets, Lydia runs upstairs and tries to convince her father that the pictures are real. There’s more to it than the scene where the adults search the attic for ghosts, where we see a desert monster trying to eat Adam and Barbra while they’re hanging from the attic window. Finally there is an extra 2 minute scene at the end where we see Lydia riding her bike home from school and her parents talking to Jane on the phone saying they don’t want to sell the house. Lydia’s dance scene is shorter in this version, and there is no scene with Beetlejuice in the waiting room. The film ends with a final shot of the exterior of the house. – always exciting to watch
Attaway & Irving Burgie (as Lord Burgess)] Performed by Harry Belafonte courtesy of RCA Records. This movie has always been: 1 – very popular; 2 – very different; 3 – very entertaining; 4 – a very fast one and a half hour movie. There are a few characters here – mainly the unique and sometimes obnoxious title character of Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice. You also get a lot of humor and scary special effects with that and the whole movie. It was strange to see Alec Baldwin in such a modest role. He played very few types like this in the 90s. Davis looks and acts like… well, Davis, who has almost always played nice, lovable people that audiences love.
They are all good
It took me four viewings to finally appreciate Kathryn O’Hara’s comedic talent in this film. Now she’s my favorite and someone I find very funny as a screwed up wife/mother of the family who moves into a "haunted house" where Baldwin and Davis live. Keaton made a name for himself as an actor with this odd Robin Williams-type role, although he never did anything as popular as this film. Winona Ryder is sweet as the teenage daughter, and we get other fun supporting roles from people as diverse as talk show host Dick Cavett, singer Robert Goulet, and actor Geoffrey Jones.
